Abstract

This study investigates the optimal angles for installing solar panels across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria using the PV software - Photovoltaic Geographic Information System (PVGIS). The research aims to provide practical recommendations for the optimal angel for installing PV panels in the absence of tracking systems. The optimal tilt angles ranging from 10 to 16 degrees consistently provide higher solar irradiance throughout the year. Specifically, a 14-degree tilt angle yields the highest annual solar irradiance of 2006.83 kWh/m². The findings suggest that adopting these optimal tilt angles can significantly enhance the efficiency of PV systems, contributing to more effective solar energy utilization in Nigeria.
