Abstract

This article critically examines the integration of gender perspectives into public policy and development, with a sharp focus on the disparities and challenges faced by women in India. It explores the historical and contemporary gender dynamics that shape women's roles and opportunities, scrutinizing their impact on economic participation, healthcare, and education. The discussion emphasizes persistent issues such as the gender wage gap, limited labour market opportunities, and healthcare inequities, while proposing targeted recommendations for addressing these disparities and enhancing gender equity. Notably, the analysis is confined to the experiences of women, excluding considerations of other gender identities, to provide a focused examination of the unique challenges and advancements within this demographic.
