Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism is the unethical act of copying someone else’s prior ideas, processes, results or words without explicit acknowledgement of the original author and source.
Measures to eliminate plagiarism are as follows:
JREAS uses software namely Turnitin at present in order to ensure that the submitted articles are free from plagiarism. Editor in chief shall ensure that the plagiarism contents are within the acceptable level. If the manuscript is within acceptable limits of similarity contents then the article shall be processed further for review. Policy and action against plagiarism is mentioned in the following section. As per UGC guidelines the following plagiarism action are to be provided. This action shall be initiated by our journal committee on plagiarism (JCP). JCP shall take appropriate action based on the type of plagiarism.
The plagiarism may be considered as following three types:
1. Full plagiarism:
Author is sending the previously published work with alterations to his names as author whiling copying entire content of the text.
2. Partial plagiarism:
The author has copied the contents and rephrased the text. Author has not properly referred the literature. Also the copy contents from reference paper is more than 4% of the entire contents with appropriate citation.
3. Self-plagiarism:
Author send the article or its contents as it is to multiple journals. This leads to republishing of his own work without changes in the contents of its text, phrases or words string constituting sentences. Self-plagiarism occurs when an author utilizes large part of his/her own previously published work without using appropriate references. This can range from getting the same manuscript published in multiple journals to modifying a previously published manuscript with some new data.
Policy and Action for Plagiarism
A. At the time of submission
As per the UGC guides the submissions of the articles may be categories with various levels of plagiarism.
Level 0:
Where the similarity contents are less than 10%. On the other hand if the similarity contents from individual citations is less than 4% and entire similarity content is less than 30%. Such manuscripts shall be further processed for review.
Level 1:
Similarities above 10% to 40%. In other way the individual contents from individual citation is more than 4% and up to 10% but entire similarity is less than 40% then the author shall be asked to withdraw the manuscript an resubmit with eliminating the similarity contents within the tolerance of level 0.
Level 2:
Similarities above 40% to 60%. Such author with individual similarity contents more than 4% but entire content up to 60% shall be debarred from submitting articles to JREAS for one year. Warning to first such penalty shall be given for first time mistake by email.
Level 3:
Similarities above 60%. Such case shall the rejected and not considered for publication and Warning to first such penalty shall be given for first time mistake by email. If author further continues then he shall be debarred from submission at IJREAS by blacklisting his name for the period of 5Yrs/10Yrs as per the decision of JCP.
B. After investigations by JCP in the published contents:
In case the author is found to suspected of any malpractice of plagiarism in the published article or reported by anybody the following action shall be taken against him. The case shall be referred to JCP and the actual facts shall be investigated and author shall be contacted given time to reply within a week. If JREAS does not receive any reply then Director / Dean / Head of the concerned College, Institution or Organization or the Vice Chancellor of the University where the author is affiliated shall be contacted to take strict action against the concerned author.
The JCP shall submit the report and if the malpractice is recognized then JREAS will take the following action if reported and found truth in plagiarism:
1. The article shall be completely remove the PDF and its associated links from the website and shall urge other urls where the similarity is found to take action against him.
2. The author shall be blacklisted for the minimum of 5 Years span or the the span decided by JPC
3. JREAS shall provide additional blog or link to display the information containing this misconduct.
4. Any other action reported by JCP to punish this malpractice.
